The Pupil Premium is worth £900 for each student who receives Free School Meals, or has been registered for Free School Meals in the past six years. Students who have been looked after by the local authority for more than six months also qualify for the Pupil Premium. The Pupil Premium provides additional funding on top of the main funding a school receives. The purpose is to ensure that all students have the same educational opportunities regardless of their background.
Highfield School governors monitor the use of pupil premium funding (for 2015/16 this was £63,675) closely to ensure that it impacts positively on students’ learning and achievements. The additional premium is used to employ one of our Parent Support Advisers who works very closely with a large number of our families whose young person receives the funding, to provide a number of literacy and numeracy interventions, including Lexia Reading and Numicon Maths to support residential opportunities and attendance at after school clubs.
