Parent / Carer Information

Attendance
School Attendance Figure for the year
2009/20010 was
93.52%. Authorised
absences amounted to 7.54% whilst unauthorised absence, by the DfES’s
definition, was 0.41%.
Parental support has been helpful in improving
these figures steadily over the last few years. To
gain the maximum benefit from school it is important that the pupil attends
regularly and punctually.
All absences must
be explained either by letter or a telephone call from the parent/carer.
School will contact the parent/carer by telephone on the first day of any
unexplained absence.
Unexplained absences may also be followed up by
a letter from school or a visit from our Home Liaison Officer.
Schools are required to keep exact records of
all absences and your co-operation will be needed in this matter. NB
A dental or medical appointment is not
normally an excuse for a full day off school, though it is understood that
exceptions
can arise.
Term Time Holidays
Holidays in term time are discouraged. However,
school will consider parental requests for holidays and has discretionary
powers to grant up to 10 days holiday during one school year. Requests
for holidays should be done in writing at least one month before departure. Each
request will be reviewed on an individual basis and the Headteacher will
give due consideration to exceptional or unusual circumstances.
School Leaving Date for 16 Year Olds
In the school year in which
your son/daughter will reach age 16, the leaving date is the last Friday in
June during that year.
In 2011, this will be
Friday, 24th June, 20011.
